Spirit and Life Devotional: Pleasing The Holy Spirit

"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom ye were sealed for the day of redemption." Ephesians 4:30.

Psalm 78:40 says the Israelites rebelled against the Lord often in the wilderness and grieved Him in the wasteland. And the implication? Isaiah 63:10 says, "Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy and he himself fought against them." In other words, Satan isn't responsible for all the problems of men; when men continue to grieve His Spirit, God becomes their enemy and fights against them! Terrifying!

Hebrews 10:29 & 30 says, "Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

Dear Lord, we come before You today in humility to obtain mercy if we have in anyway grieved Your Spirit by sinning and with our attitudes. Give us the grace to please You at all times. Make us whole again, and restore all that we may have lost and suffered as a result of our errors. In Jesus' name I've prayed. Amen.
