The story of Samson is very heartbreaking. Samson was a
man greatly anointed by God; a judge of Israel for twenty years; a hero;
probably the strongest man who ever lived; yet in Judges 16:21 we read how he
was made a grinder in prison! How are the mighty fallen!
Saul and Jonathan were said to be swifter than eagles and
stronger than lions. They did many exploits; they were anointed men of God; yet
they died shameful deaths in battle. "How are the mighty fallen, and the
weapons of war perished!" 2 Samuel 1:27
"Let him who thinks that he stands take heed lest he
fall." 1 Corinthians 10:12. He that is down need fear no fall. But when
God has begun to uplift you, there is a possibility of falling, especially if
you do not take heed. 2 Peter 3:17 says to be on guard lest you lose your
footing and get swept off your feet... but grow in grace (spiritual strength).
I pray for you reading this today, that you shall not
fall. May the Lord keep you from falling; may the Lord uphold you; may the Lord
give you strength to overcome your weaknesses; may the Lord give you wisdom to
flee every appearance of evil; and may His grace be sufficient for you at all
times of need. Amen.
