Pastor has affair with best friend’s wife, kills him, then delivers his eulogy

Randy Stone and wife Teresa
Randy Stone was a former marine, described by his friends to be a family man.  The Independence, Missouri husband and father owned an insurance business that he ran with his wife of 19-years, Teresa.

“He worshipped Teresa, she meant everything to him,” Robert Davis, Randy’s good friend and fellow insurance agent, told ABC News’ “20/20.” “We couldn’t be at any sort of an event, away from work, without him constantly calling her, …or Teresa calling him.”
The couple’s two children, Michael and Miranda, were baptized at the same church where their parents were married, the New Hope Baptist Church. The pastor of the church, David Love, was the spiritual adviser for Randy, as well as his best friend.

In 2010, Randy died from a gunshot wound in his office.  Police found that there were no signs of a struggle and the killer even left money on the desk. Police went to Randy’s funeral, where the eulogy was given by David Love. They were looking for evidence to determine who the killer might be.

One clue that police found was a love letter: “Happy Birthday Love. I am not in control of things yet but when we are fully together your birthday will always be exciting,” the letter stated.

Police figured out that the letter was not written by the woman’s husband. When they asked the woman about the murder, she had a very detailed alibi, along with receipts and specific times.  But when they asked her about the love letter, she had no answer.

Even more suspicious was that Teresa had gone to a friend’s insurance office to ask about Randy’s life insurance policy. According to friend Randy Davis, the queries came right after her husband was killed.

Police later determined that Teresa had also miscarried a baby after her husband had had a vasectomy. Also, Randy’s Glock handgun had gone missing during the murder, and the shell casings were the same as those used in the crime.

Eventually, Teresa broke down and admitted to the police that Pastor Love had played a role in her husband’s murder.

“He said he walked in the office and he just aimed and he didn’t look,” Teresa said on a police recording.

Love is currently serving a life sentence for the murder after taking a plea deal for second-degree murder.  He is eligible for parole in 2036.  Teresa took a plea admitting to conspiracy to commit murder and got eight years in prison.

  1. Pastor Love indeed. What a shame, he is in jail and will be there for a long time. His lover is also in jail. This is what happens when you disrupt natural order
