FULFILLING THE LAW
"Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves
another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, "You shall not commit
adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not
steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not
covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this
saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbour as yourself." Love
does no harm to a neighbour; therefore love is the fulfilment of the law."
Romans 13:8-10
The six purposes of laws include: "to protect you from outside
aggression or harm; to establish the rules needed for a society to live and
work together; to protect the fabric of society as agreed upon by the voice of
the people or their representatives; to ensure that justice is served; to
punish people who commit crimes; and to maintain social order."
If we all loved our neighbours as we should, there would be no need for
protection, there would be no need for punishment, and there would be no need
to ensure that justice is served.
Choose today to love! Stop hating, backbiting, cheating, gossiping,
lying, jesting, abusing, etc. Embrace a life of love; care about the feelings
of others, respect their opinions, don't judge them, don't spite, treat them as
humans, don't look down on people, give to those in need, stick to agreements,
give people chances, be there for people, put yourself in the shoes of others,
support the weak... Love!
