The tendency is for people to be self-centred today, after all times are pretty tough and there seems to be only a little for so many of us. Only the fittest survives; and men don't mind destroying valuable friendships and relationships in a bid to achieve their goals and objectives.
Here's what God is saying today, "Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." Philippians 2:4. I like Weymouth's translation of this verse, "Each fixing his attention, not simply on his own interests, but on those of others."
I must confess that I've not done well in this regard, and I've got to improve: we've got to do it! Take time to know how people around you are faring, at home, at work, in school, etc. When you are aware of opportunities, share them with people; when someone is doing something, don't say it doesn't concern you, relieve the person of some burdens; it's sad that some people will actually see a neighbour's clothes on the floor and leave them there. Yeah, little things like that matter! If you can't pick the clothes up, would you do something greater?
We've got to look out for each other because we are one. We have one Father and are of one family. We must care for one another, pray for one another, support one another, rejoice with one another, strengthen one another, and uplift one another.
