Spirit & Life Devotional: Testing Spirits

People are quick to complain about the number of churches on the streets, but they don't have a problem with the number of guest houses, clubs, joints and hotels on the same streets! Churches can never be too many; we need more churches! The harvest is indeed plenty! There are about 5billion people who need to be saved!

Having said the above, we must also understand that for every good and genuine church or minister out there, there are false ones; we've got to be careful in order not to be deceived. The bible is full of warnings about wolves in sheep clothing, and for us not to be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine: we also have the Holy Spirit for discernment.

1 John 4:1 (NLT) says, "Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world." Wondering what the false prophets want? To deceive, mislead and extort you!

Don't be a gullible and simple person. That we are believers don't mean we must believe everything without checking. There's no man or woman, (no matter how successful they are in ministry, or how large their church is, or how many years they've been in ministry) who's words or interpretation of scriptures shouldn't be verified. Know the scriptures yourself and please don't be deceived. Keep your eyes on Jesus and on His word. You are too precious to God; stay safe!

  1. This Word is timely and all Christians should take it and ask God for discernment because so much is happening right now. A lot of Christians idolize their spiritual leaders and many times do not verify if teachings or instructions have a scriptural basis. This is a recipe for deception.

Thank you Pastor Chinae and God bless.
