Spirit and Life Devotional: Remember Why You Started

REMEMBER WHY YOU STARTED

Our world is full of quitters (drop-outs, failed businesses, backsliders, divorcees, et cetera)! No wonder there are only very few winners. Those who have won did not quit, and those who quit certainly did not win.

Jesus said, "Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God." Luke 9:62. No word drives me more than this. I'd rather start late after careful consideration than start hastily and then quit.

Maybe if we always remembered why we started the journey in the first place, we would want to go on and not give up easily. Life is full of challenges. There will always be trying times. Pressure is real; everywhere! So are you always going to quit? Proverbs 24:10 says, "If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small." God's Word Translation says, "If you faint in a crisis, you are weak."

I agree, there are times we'll need to leave the good for the better and the best; but after we have discovered our purposes, assignments, and callings, we must apply ourselves to them till we can work no more. Fight the good fight of faith, and don't stop fighting it until you take hold of the eternal life to which you were called. Be encouraged, God's grace is sufficient for you.

  1. I've been blessed by this post. It takes grace to continue when you feel like quitting - could be anything, a project, a journey, etc. The Word of the Lord tells us that God's grace is sufficient for us.
