"The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray." Proverbs 12:26.
I know a true christian, and how seriously a man's faith is to him, by his friends. You may want to argue that having many unbelieving friends doesn't affect you; that's a blatant lie! They are either making you worse by the day or slowing you down. Trust me, with true christian friends, you'll have grown a lot faster than you are doing now.
A serious minded believer makes sure that he has believing friends with whom he can serve the Lord. David said, "I am a companion of all who fear You, and of those who keep Your precepts." Psalm 119:63. No way; you can't truly love the Lord and not want to be in the company of fellow God lovers.
Life, or chance shouldn't determine who your friends are; that you work together don't mean they must be your friends; that you school together don't mean they must be your friends; that a person likes you don't mean he qualifies for friendship! Do you understand? You must intentionally choose your friends. Have standards! Have criteria for those who can be your friends!
Your friendships determine the quality of your life. "Don't let anyone deceive you. Associating with bad people will ruin decent people." 1 Corinthians 15:33 GWT
