It
is quite sad that we live in a world where we hear of teachers being attacked
and in this case being killed by a student. Educators are invaluable; without
them you could not be able to reading this post, neither could I make this blog post.
A 14 year old Danvers High School student, Philip Chism has been charged as an adult with the murder of a 24-year-old math teacher at
his Massachusetts school, according to CBS
in Boston. Chism
and his family had recently moved to Danvers from Tennessee, according to
police.
The popular
teacher, Colleen Ritzer, was reportedly beaten to death then dragged into the woods near the school. New information
suggest she was killed with a box cutter. Ritzer
was reported missing Tuesday at about 11:20 p.m. when she hadn't returned home
from work and wasn't answering her phone. Ritzer was well-liked as a
teacher and students are "devastated" at the news of her death

Police aren't seeking any other suspects in Ritzer's death, and they won't say what Chism's relationship to her was. It appears that Chism was a student in Ritzer's math class, according to a classmate who spoke with CBS.
Chism is being held without bail.
There is no news yet about the motive of this senseless killing, it is still a very sad situation.
Our hearts go out to family of the teacher, staff and students of the school, and the entire community.
