Spirit and Life Devotional: Just Before You Make That Move

JUST BEFORE YOU MAKE THAT MOVE

It has been said that ideas rule the world. I think so too. Virtually everything you see in the world today began as an idea in someone's mind. People are actually thriving on ideas. But I've seen people with brilliant ideas stuck: they don't know what to do with their ideas. Yet still, there are others who have failed despite having fantastic ideas.

Before you make any move, whether to start a business, get married, choose a school or course, embark on a journey, etc, no matter how inspired or smart you think you are, it's wise to seek advice. Your ideas might be fantastic, but through interactions with others you could discover better ways of achieving excellent results.

Proverbs 11:14 AMP says, "Where no wise guidance is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety." And Proverbs 24:6 CEB says, "You should make war with guidance; victory comes with many counsellors."

Don't always be in a hurry to get things done. Patience is a virtue. And don't be too proud to ask questions and seek advice. Have people in your life that you trust and can discuss your plans with. Above all, seek the counsel of the Holy Spirit at all times. One word from God is more valuable than many words of a million men combined. Don't rely on your own intelligence, trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5 rephrased).

All the best.
