Kim Kardashian Reacts to Zimmerman's Acquittal, Fans Point Out Her Father's Role in O. J. Simpson's Acquittal

Kim Kardashian was one of a slew of celebrities who took to Twitter to protest at George Zimmerman's acquittal.

From Rihanna to Will.i.am - scores of American stars took to Twitter to protest about the acquittal of George Zimmerman, 29, who shot dead black teenager Trayvon Martin as he returned from the shops with sweets.
The jury's verdict on Zimmerman, a neighbourhood watch officer who suspected 17-year-old unarmed Trayvon was "up to no good" in the gated community, sparked small pockets of race riots in America.

Budding cop Zimmerman said he shot Trayvon in self defence after the teenager confronted and attacked him. Trayvon's family said it was his screams for mercy which could be heard on the 911 call made that night in February last year. Zimmerman's mother argued it was her son's voice pleading with Trayvon.

Kim Kardashian caused a mini Twitter protest, writing just after the verdict: "My heart goes out to Trayvon Martin's family & loved ones. Thought & prayers being sent their way. #nojustice."
Fans rushed to respond, pointing out Kim's own father Robert Kardashian was on O.J Simpson's legal team which scored an acquittal for the murders of his wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronalld Goldman in 1995.

Tweets from fans...

I was a toddler in 1995 so I didn't witness the O. J. Simpson trial first hand but I gathered information from my parents and sibling who where at it(just as I am on Zimmerman's case)...and of course google. I even did  a paper on the O. J. Simpson trial in 2010, so I can say, without mincing words that there is no basis for comparing the Zimmerman trial to the O. J. Simpson trial. There are on two opposite spectrums.
Zimmerman shot dead an unarmed teenager, which he clearly admitted he did. Simpson said he didn't do it, evidence didnt prove he did, in fact they tried so hard to make him guilty by planting false evidence that didnt work out, need I mention the undersized glove???
Well, that's a topic for another day. Back to the discourse...
Zimmerman’s five-week trial divided the nation, with many believing the killing and subsequent police handling of case was racially motivated.
Cops failed to act for several weeks until a national outcry led prosecutors to bring charges against Zimmerman, who was described in court as a wannabe police officer.
He shot Martin during a violent struggle after the youngster was seen acting suspiciously in a gated complex which Zimmerman patrolled in Sanford, Florida.
He claimed that Martin had gone for his gun after he challenged him over his behaviour.
After more than 16 hours of deliberation a jury unanimously decided that Zimmerman had acted in self defence.
They ruled that he “justifiably” killed the unarmed lad because he believed his life was being threatened.
And they rejected prosecution claims that screams heard on a recording of a 911 call by Zimmerman were actually Martin pleading for his life.
Following Saturday’s verdict, tens of thousands vented their fury on Twitter.
Beyoncé called for a silent tribute in memory of Martin at a concert during her Mrs Carter Show World Tour at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

The concert had started about 30 minutes after news of the Zimmerman verdict began to circulate through the crowd.
The singer told fans: “I’d like to have a moment of silence for Trayvon”, before singing a chorus of I Will Always Love You.
My prayers go out to the family of Trayvon Martins, Saturday reopened the wound which was yet fresh. It's harder for them than we think.

RIP Trayvon.

  1. It just made me want to puke when people mention O. J. Simpson inside the matter.

  2. umm you do realize OJ almost made a tv special called "I didn't do it, but if I did this is how"...not to mention the civil conviction and the book he wrote where he outlined how he would have done it...but yeah he was innocent

  3. At least they tried by taking it to trial and leaving it to a jury to decide, thats more than I can say for some countries that regularly allow high profile people get away with murder.
