Every year all over the world, 10 million girls under 18 are married, often to much older men. That is more people than live in Lagos. In a decade, 100 million underage girls become brides. It’s been years since this practice was determined to violate international human rights agreements, yet even today one-third of the girls in the developing world are wives.
This is staring us right in the face in our dear Nigeria. This is when we need all our activists to speak up. This is a WORTHY cause. If we ignore it there is no telling what the ripple effects may be.
