WORSHIP; the heartbeat of God

The mystery of worship lies simply in the truth that God created us for fellowship. Nothing refreshes the heart of God as the delight He derives from a true worshiper.

In its proper spiritual perspective, worship transcends singing (whether at your local Church or in the privacy of your home), it is the very purpose for which you were created by God!

Hence not only does it require your singing, but much more your entire living, all that we think, say and do must ring God’s praise and glory (Isaiah 43:21).

Adam’s fall from glory created a void in the heart of God who constantly seeks fellowship. You see the deepest cry of your heart reaching for God’s love and acceptance is nothing to be compared to God’s desire to reach for you.

Worship affords us such warmth and joy, worship is where divinity meets with humanity, and worship is the Father’s desire today. It is God’s love for such fellowship with mankind that made Him give up His only Son to be despised, wounded, afflicted, and crucified, so that you and I could be adopted as His children back into His arms.

Oh the love the Father has for you and me, it passes all human knowledge and comprehension!

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT WORSHIP

UNION: God is a spirit (John 4:24), and man is essentially a spirit who has a soul and lives in a body (1st Thessalonians 5:23), worship is a great source of spiritual union with God. Just as natural parents would do everything in their power to create an environment of love and care to breed their offspring, to the end that they may grow into a good natural life, true worship creates the atmosphere of intimacy that makes the word of God effectual in nourishing our spirit, renewing our mind, and ultimately producing the flow of spiritual life.

REWARD: God Himself is the first reward of worship. Yes you can receive spiritual blessings such as healing and deliverance in the place of worship but these are not the reward of worship and certainly should not be our motive in worship. Worship reveals God’s presence (Psalm 22:3), and spiritual virtues flow in their fullness in HIS presence (Psalm 16:11). This generation of believers must stop going into God’s presence to seek His hand but rather we must seek His face, all that we desire as blessings are simply products of seeking first His face.

ALTAR: Jesus said to the woman at the well that the time has come and I believe more than ever that we are living in such a time, when the altar of worship will no longer be limited by chance, time and space. The altar of worship transcends a “mountain” or Church building, it is no longer tied your theological creed, it is in you! You are the temple of the Lord (1st Corinthians 6:19-20). It is time to take worship to the streets, take it with you on your job, worship is the manifestation of living in God’s truth, it is your lifestyle.

Worship, unrestrained and unashamed, is ministering to God in a spiritual romance born out of truthful living; it is losing all consciousness of self and setting our hearts on the lovely face of Jesus, it is what makes our Christian walk meaningful.
