The News Agency of Nigeria reports that a rally organised by the National Council for Women Society to celebrate President Goodluck Jonathan for his contribution to women empowerment, has attracted more than 10,000 women. It is unclear how they arrived at the estimate.
The women are drawn from all 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
As expected, there was heavy presence of security operatives in and around Eagle Square where the event held. All roads leading to the Eagle Square were closed and traffic diverted, while the Federal Secretariat was also been shut.
First lady Dame Patience Jonathan is the mother of the day while Vice-President Namadi Sambo, is the special guest of honour.

What are his contributions to women empowerment? I would like to know. I am just asking.
