Uber talented A-list Hollywood actress, Angelina Jolie was given the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2013
Governors Awards, November 16. It’s an honor bestowed upon those in Hollywood whose
humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry.
Her friends, her dad, her
partner (Brad Pitt), and her son (Maddox) were in the audience.
In the emotional and
touching speech she pays tribute to her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand
who died of cancer. I was really moved when she spoke about women just like
her, as talented nonetheless sitting in refugee camps without a voice and how
her late mother inspired her to “live a life of use to others”.
In March of 2002, Jolie
adopted her first child, a seven-month-old baby boy from an orphanage in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. His name is Maddox, and he was
at this event with Jolie and Brad Pitt. Something obvious about Angelina Jolie
is that it shows she truly cares about people and helps them for real; not for
publicity or photo ops.
