JUST IN: Authorities Temporarily Shut Down Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja, Passengers Stranded

The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, has been temporarily shut down leaving hundreds of passengers stranded, and thousands more stranded across the country. Planes have been prevented from taking off or landing all day. All flights are grounded for now.

According to reports, Nigerian Airspace Management Authority, NAMA, shut down activities following the breakdown of a Saudi Arabian Boeing 747 cargo plane on the runway of the airport last night. The airport authorities say the plane, which veered after landing at the airport, has to be fixed before it can be evacuated from the runway.

Authorities have informed passengers that it will be resolved soon. In the meantime, Arik air has convened it's passengers for a small meeting.

I'll bring you more stories on this as events progress.
