Spirit and Life Devotional: LOVE

"Love, a word that comes and goes, but few people really know what it means to really love somebody." Kirk Franklin.
The only reason why a Christian will go to hell is because he or she did not love. The bad part is that we think we love when we really don't.

A Christian who thinks he's better than others doesn't love; a Christian who cannot tolerate others doesn't love; a Christian who wants God to destroy other men doesn't love; a Christian who likes to show off doesn't love; a Christian who doesn't attempt to discourage and dissuade others from wrongdoing doesn't love; and a Christian who doesn't give to those in need and isn't concerned about the welfare of others, doesn't love.

"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a.

Love never fails. For me, that's a bitter truth: if I were to judge myself on this alone, I'm so sure I will fail woefully. Brothers and sisters, Jesus said we should be perfect in love just as our Father in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). If God so loved us, tolerated us, never gave up on us, died for us even when we didn't believe in Him; we should be able to do same for fellow men.
