The African Oscars is here again. The awards organised by Nollywood and African Film Critics, USA Washington DC will hold on the 14th of September 2013 at the Warner Theatre in Wasgington D.C. 

The third edition of the African prestigious award has released the nomination list and Nigeria's Omotola Jolade Ekeinde, Genevieve Nnaji, Ini Edo, P-Square, and Flavour are among A-rated Nigerian entertainers nominated in various categories of the awards.

The event will be televised worldwide with over 500 million viewers expected to tune in to the glitz and glamour of NAFC Awards Night.

George Zimmerman Mural Revealed at Florida State Capitol

A mural depicting George Zimmerman shooting Trayvon Martin while Martin Luther King Jr. drips blood was debuted at the Florida state capitol.

The “We Are All Trayvon Martin” painting puts a mirror in the place of Trayvon Martin’s face. The painting was completed by Florida artist Huong.

Huong is a peace activist and Vietnam War refugee and has joined the Dream Defenders, who have remained camped at the Florida capitol in an effort to change Florida’s ‘Stand Your Ground’ law. The group is trying to convince Florida Gov. Rick Scott to convene a special session of the Florida legislature to amend or repeal the law.

2 Corinthians 8:2 reveals that in spite of the terrible ordeal of suffering the Macedonians experienced, their abundant joy and deep poverty led them to be abundantly generous. The Macedonians chose to be happy and joyful in spite of their circumstances; they understood the importance of being joyful at all times. Their suffering should naturally have made them grumpy and cantankerous, but joy made them generous! Amazing.

He ain't no Jesus: US Judge changes name of infant named Messiah to Martin

This baby pictured above was named Messiah by his parents but a judge in Tennessee changed the 7-month-old boy's name to Martin from, saying the religious name, Messiah, was earned by one person and "that one person is Jesus Christ."

Child Support Magistrate Lu Ann Ballew ordered the name change last week, according to WBIR-TV . The boy's parents were in court because they could not agree on the child's last name, but when the judge heard the boy's first name, she ordered it changed, too.

Incurable racist! White radio host (who is obese, by the way) says Oprah Winfrey appeared 'obese, poor and stupid'

After the recent racial profiling case of Oprah Winfrey, Rush Limbaugh was one of the first conservative commentators to get into the screaming match that typically serves to denigrate black people who are victims of racism.   Limbaugh, perhaps trying to get ratings for his struggling show, stated that Winfrey was likely the victim of profiling not because of her race, but because she is overweight.

“Maybe it’s because the Oprah’s fat! … Look, don’t most people think that the fat and the obese are poor and stupid?” Limbaugh said.

Limbaugh’s remarks are over the top in his typical way, and are referencing Winfrey’s concern about the reaction that a store clerk had when the mogul asked to be shown a $38,000 handbag during a recent trip to Zurick.  The store, Trois Pommes, got international attention when one of its clerks didn’t realize that the black person asking about the bag could have bought the entire company with her pocket change.

Beverly Osu's best friend confirms her abusive relationship with 2shotz

I guess you've been hearing Beverly talk about a certain bestie of hers named Charity, well, Charity Owoh has been made flesh. 10-year-old girl arrested for raping 4-year-old boy

A shocking story is emerging from the state of Texas. According to KHOU.com, a ten-year old girl has been arrested for allegedly raping a 4-year old boy. The incident reportedly took place in the apartment complex where they both lived.

In a report that aired on the station, the girl’s mother is suggesting that her child’s behavior was innocent and that she did not intend to inflict harm on the other child. The mother told reporters, “She was just being a child having fun and playing,” the girl’s mother said. “She didn’t know she was doing anything wrong.”

Blessing Okagbare has won Nigeria’s first medal in Moscow as she leaped 6.99 metres to clinch the silver medal in the long jump event final.

The Sapele-born athlete qualified for the final of the Women’s long jump event at the on-going IAAF World Championship in Moscow with a jump of 6.83m, placing second in the qualification behind Great Britain’s Shara Proctor who jumped a distance of 6.85m in her first attempt to automatically qualify for the final.

We get more insight about what Paul shared with the Ephesians in his letter to the saints that were at Colosse: "God has given me the responsibility of serving his church by proclaiming his entire message to you. This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God's people. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory." BBA Eviction: Who's it gonna be; Dillish, Cleo, or Feza?

These three diva's are up against each other on the chopping block this week. Dillish of Namibia, Cleo from Zambia, and Tanzania's Feza are up for possible eviction. 

The housemates originally nominated Bimp, Cleo, and Feza. HOH Beverly, swapped Bimp for Dillish. However, Dillish has the gut feeling that she's the one Bev put up, she told Biggie this in a diary session.

Pride is defined as "a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc."

2 Kings 14 contains a brief history of King Amaziah. He was 25years old when he became king. He fought with the Edomites in the Valley of Salt and killed 10,000 of them. That singular achievement led to his fall.

Amaziah was the kind of person who when he manages to do something seemingly significant, "person no go hear word again." By killing 10,000 Edomites, he began to feel like a war lord; forgetting that David was said to have killed tens of thousands long before he even became king! King Amaziah invited King Jehoash for battle despite warnings; he lost the battle and was captured.

Kourtney Kardashian & Scott Disick's relationship seems shaken as male model claims he is the father of their 3-year old son, Mason

Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick (Pictured left) on their way to lunch together today following public accusations that Kourtney cheated. Michael Girgenti (pictured right),a model,  claims that he is the father of Kourtney's son, Mason, whom she had with Scott in December 2009. 

Michael's story is that he met Kourtney at a photo shoot in August 2008, they began a texting relationship. In March 2009, Kourtney called him up when she was having issues with Scott, they hooked up and had unprotected sex. Shortly after, she got back with Scott and in December Mason was born, exactly 9 months after their little incident. Michael said when Mason was born he immediately saw a striking resemblance but efforts to contact Kourtney proved abortive. 

Tragic addiction: Baby drowns in swimming pool as mother checks Facebook (Pictured)

37 year old Kariasa Thomas of Dallas was arrested and charged  with reckless injury to a child, after a 3-year-old drowned while in her care.

Reports indicate that Kariasa and the child’s mother were good friends. It was not uncommon for her to watch the children who ranged in ages from 3 to 7 years old.

Kariasa and her husband reportedly took the children, along with her teenager, to her apartment complex’s pool after the pool was closed. She reportedly told authorities that she only allowed the 3-year-old  to remain on the steps  leading to the pool because she could not swim.

Pastor Rodney Willis was the Senior Pastor of Mt. Salem Baptist Church, North Carolina Parish until his love for Hip-hop got in the way of his calling. 

The groovy pastor was spotted at a Rick Ross concert last Saturday (4th August), word quickly got to the deacons of the church and they met (that same night) to deliberate on his matter and decided to let him go. Out of 14 deacons, 11 voted against his actions. "We know that many saints will have mixed opinion from our actions, but this is not how we do things here at Mt. Salem," explained deacon Miles Langley.

Lauren Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple's Steve Jobs is dating ex Washington D.C. Mayor, Adrian Fenty. They met at a Houston education conference in 2011 and bonded over their passion for school reform. The relationships started as friendship and has recently blossomed into a "budding romance", sources say.

Adrian Fenty, 42, was Washington D.C.’s  mayor for four years, from 2006 to 2010. He got into trouble when he put in place a controversial school reform program. Since then, he’s worked with Silicon Valley where he advises businesses on building relationships with local, state and the federal governments.

Man Kills His Wife and Posts Picture of Her Corpse on Facebook with a Confession

A horrifying crime scene in South Miami hit Facebook yesterday when a man posted a photo of his dead wife and a confession that he had killed her.

Derek Medina posted the photo some time around noon Thursday, with the words "Rip Jennifer Alfonso." The image shows his wife's leggings-clad body slumped backwards on the floor in what appears to be the couple's kitchen. Her face and left arm were covered in blood.

Reports of Fulani herdsmen attacking members of their host communities with AK 47 rifles and other dangerous weapons have often been treated as a fairy tale by those saddled with the  responsibility of  protecting lives and property of the citizenry.

Recently, Crime Alert published a story of 23-year-old Ogbonna Eze, a commercial motorcyclist from Opi Community in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu state, whose life was almost snuffed out by  two Fulani  herdsmen whom he had conveyed  from Opi Junction along Enugu -Makurdi Expressway , to their  camp at Idodo Agu Ekwegbe, Igbo Etiti local government  area on a special drop.

Since the Nigerian vixen went into the BBA house she has told the entire continent her life history. Even though some stories don't add up, but mehnn, that's just too much info. I can't.

Remember when she said she was engaged to the Nigerian rapper, 2Shortz, so te he had to release a disclaimer? Now she has given us deeper details into their affair. While sharing one of those her "stories that touch", Beverly narrated how 2Shotz used to beat her so hard. That on one beating spree she ran into the bathroom and locked the door but he broke the door down and continued beating her. She showed the housemates a scar from the incident to validate her story.

TRAGIC! Landlord sets 6 boys ablaze for smoking Indian hemp in his compound

I read this sad story this morning and got me thinking. Why are people so prone to violence?

Here's the story; Adebesin, a landlord who is also a commercial bus driver, returns home for the day at about 7pm yesterday to meet 6 young boys gambling and smoking Indian hemp in his premises. As I would imagine, he questions their presence and actions, an argument ensues and one thing leads to another. 

In the heat of the argument, the landlord grabs a gallon of petrol and empties the content on all 6 of the boys. When they see that things just got real they attempt to flee but are ignited by one of the sticks of hemp they were smoking. They suffer high degree burns.

The tendency is for people to be self-centred today, after all times are pretty tough and there seems to be only a little for so many of us. Only the fittest survives; and men don't mind destroying valuable friendships and relationships in a bid to achieve their goals and objectives.

Here's what God is saying today, "Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." Philippians 2:4. I like Weymouth's translation of this verse, "Each fixing his attention, not simply on his own interests, but on those of others."

RELATIONSHIP 201: Fix This and You Will Be Walking on Sunshine

There's no denying that every relationship has problems. As long as two people coexist there's bound to be conflict. You can't totally be in agreement and compatible on all levels, at all times. If you do, it means one person is pretending. So don't think your relationship is the worst ever cos you have little conflict here and there. We all go through that and how we handle conflict is what makes the difference.

What if there really is ONE major cause of relationship problems, that one issue that if addressed changes everything? If you can lay your finger on that one thing it would be easier to identify the problem and solve it once and for all.
