Spirit And Life Devotional: Passing The Baton

Titus 1:5 AMP "For this reason I left you [behind] in Crete, that you might set right what was defective and finish what was left undone, and that you might appoint elders and set them over the churches (assemblies) in every city as I directed you."
I used to think that it was my responsibility to finish whatever I start; you know, Jesus said that His meat was to do the will of God and to finish it. But finishing His work didn't mean He would stay on earth forever, overseeing the church He established; He finished His own part; His own work, and then passed the baton to someone else.

Some people are starters while others are finishers. Some people are foundation layers, while others are meant to continue the building; some people are dreamers while others are doers; some are pace setters, and the others are perfectionists; there are leaders and there are managers.
We must all identify our roles and know when to pass the batons on to the next person. That God has used you to begin a great work at a place doesn't necessarily mean that it is equally your responsibility to stay there and finish it; God may want you to begin something similar or even greater elsewhere. Seek someone who is capable; delegate wisely; move on and then you can continue directing and supervising him or her.
