According to DailyStar, "Swaziland has launched a crackdown on high-flying witches after banning them from hovering above 150metres.

Anyone caught flying their broomstick above the height limit faces arrest and a hefty R500,000 fine, the country’s Civil Aviation Authorities said this week.

According to the Corporate Affairs Sabelo Dlamini‘A witch on a broomstick should not fly above the [150-metre] limit,’

David Beckham Bids Farewell To Professional Football

Football superstar David Beckham has announced his retirement after 20 years in professional football.

According to BBC, the former England captain will effectively be retiring at the end of the season.

Beckham's professional career began with Manchester United, making his first-team debut in 1992 aged 17.

The 38-year-old midfielder will ending a colorful professional career that saw him play for Manchester United, Preston North End, Real Madrid, Milan, Los Angeles Galaxy, and the England national team.

Yvonne Nelson Is On The Panel Of Judges For Miss Universe 2013!!!

While people are fretting over who she's dating and not dating, Yvonne Nelson has been named a judge for Miss Universe Ghana 2013.

She will join Liela Lopes,Miss Universe 2011; Presenter Benny Blanco; Brian D. Hogan, founder of investment firm Paradigm Capital Group; and model Veronica Varekova as judges of the pageant.

The pageant is to hold on May 25th. 

The winner of the Miss Universe Ghana pageant will represent Ghana at the 62nd Miss Universe 2013 at a yet to be announced venue. Olivia Culpo of the USA, winner of 2012 pageant, will crown her successor at the end of that event. 

Four Nigerians Among 5 Shortlisted For African Writing Prize

Four of the five writers shortlisted for this year's Caine Prize for African Writing are from Nigeria, a first for the prestigious award, organisers revealed today.

The fifth contestant is from Sierra Leone, according to a list released on the Caine Prize website.

The five were chosen from 96 entries from 16 African countries.

"The five contrasting titles interrogate aspects of things that we might feel we know of Africa - violence, religion, corruption, family, community - but these are subjects that are deconstructed and beautifully remade," said the chief judge and historian Gus Casely-Hayford.

Blackberry is Bringing BBM To Other Smartphones

BlackBerry announced Today that its popular BlackBerry Messengeror (BBM) will be expanded in the coming months to work on rival Android and iOS devices.

Until now, BBM service has been accessible to BlackBerry users only, allowing them to exchange messages for free with other users.

Earlier this year, the company unveiled BBM video chat as part of its BlackBerry 10 platform launch. But CEO Thorsten Heins said it is now time to make the service available on its competitors’ devices as well.

"It's a statement of confidence," Heins told the audience at BlackBerry's annual “Live” meeting in Orlando, Florida.

President Jonathan Declares State of Emergency in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States

In what appears to be about the boldest step taken by the Federal Government in tackling the insurgency in the northern part of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in three states, namely: Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.

In a nationwide broadcast, President Jonathan said the growing insecurity in these troubled states compelled him to exercise his powers as enshrined in Section 205 Subsection 1 of the Nigerian Constitution, which empowers him as the chief security officer of the country to declare a state of emergency in any troubled area.

The two-part finale of American Idol season 12 will be broadcast live on M-Net (DStv channel 101) at 02:00 on Thursday, 16 May, followed by the final results show on Friday morning at 02:00.

The live broadcasts will be re-aired during the usual delayed broadcast timeslot on M-Net: Saturday, 18 May at 18:00 for the performances and Sunday, 19 May at 16:55 the final results show will be rebroadcast

Update on New Orleans Shooting: Police Identity Suspect

New Orleans police on Monday identified a suspect in connection with a shooting at a Mother’s Day parade that injured 19 people, including two children, as residents expressed outrage over the violence.

Police said the suspect, 19-year-old Akein Scott, remained at large but had been identified by multiple people.

This development, it was gathered, compelled the regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, and interconnect clearing house, Interconnect Nigeria, ICN, to summon an emergency meeting of the operators in Lagos last Thursday.

Three people remained in critical condition Monday morning after a shooting at a New OrleansMother's Day parade wounded 19. Police said they were seeking three suspects in the case.

The injured were part of a "second line" parade, a New Orleans tradition involving community members marching behind a first-line group of marchers, such as a band. Such parades have been occasionally been touched by violence over the years.

Shooting At New Orleans Mother's Day Parade

In New Orleans, a shooting took place during a Mother's Day parade and allegedly left at least 19 people injured.

No deaths have been reported but the New Orleans police have reported they are searching for three suspects who might have been involved.

Jossy Lad, Ex-Super Falcons Coach, Is Dead

A former Super Falcons Coach, Joseph Ladipo, is dead.

The former Shooting Stars Chairman, popularly referred to as Jossy Lad, died this afternoon in Ibadan after a long illness.

Before his death, Jossy Lad was placed on life support machine at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan but was later discharged.

It's been reported that Jossy Lad had been going from home to receive treatment periodically at the UCH even as his family had been making frantic efforts for him to be flown abroad for better medical services.

The health condition of the former coach, however, deteriorated; with the family rushing him back to the UCH.

Jossy Lad, who captained top Nigeria club, 3SC (then IICC Shooting Stars) and played for the senior National Team failed to win the battle to stay alive as he joins the growing list of dead Shooting Stars legends.

David Moyes Named New Manchester United Manager

David Moyes quits as manager of Everton to take over Manchester United. 

Everton has confirmed that David Moyes will leave the club at the end of the season after 11 years as manager, with the Scot expected to be announced as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Manchester United.

Moyes currently earns £4m a-year at Everton, making him better paid than any of his players and he can expect to receive a sizeable increase in these terms at United.
