The Gospel Of Grace Series: Understanding The Foundation Of Grace

by Bright Benson

Whenever I think about the grace of God, I am simply overwhelmed by God’s amazing love for mankind. That’s what grace is all about. The goodness of God that cannot be earned is now freely extended to man by faith.

You see, in order to understand the foundation of God’s grace, you must understand the state of separation and hopelessness mankind was thrown into after the fall of Adam.
Man was created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 126), and there is a reason for that. First of all it was to create an equality of fellowship between God and man. God is a Spirit (John 424), and He created Adam essentially a spirit being.

It is impossible for a man to have fellowship with a cow, regardless of any emotional attachment there might be between the man and his cow. Equality of life is required if there must be any level of understandable communication and functional relationship between two living beings.

Spirit And Life Devotional: Victory Over The Flesh

Romans 8:8 NKJV “So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
The Bible talks about two categories of that cannot please God: those without faith (Hebrews 11:6), and those who are in the flesh (Romans 8:8). Notice the words used in both verses; “impossible” and “cannot”. If you are going to church every day, reading the Bible, reading devotionals like this, and living in the flesh, you may feel good, but don’t be deceived, God is not pleased.
How to know if you are living in the flesh: check your mind; your thoughts and your desires. What are the things you are always thinking about; what are the things you love to do; what places do you go to often? Romans 8:5 says, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.”

Joseph Prince’s Daily Grace Inspirations: God Is Your Stregnth

Ephesians 6:10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

When you say, “I can manage this problem by myself, Lord,” God says, “Okay, you do it then.” But when you say, “Help me, Lord! I need You. I cannot do this on my own,” God says, “Good, I have been waiting for you to say that. You cannot, but I can. Now, watch Me!” That is how God is—He loves it when you depend on Him.

You see, when you think that you are strong and don’t need God, He cannot help you. But when you need Him and look to Him, He will not leave you weak and helpless. He comes and becomes the strength of your life. He becomes the breakthrough that you need.
